. and the president yesterday made clear that mike el morrell, who has been the assistant deputy director will take over the acting director position. he's been at that agency for more than 30 years. he's a career intelligence professional. he has been on top of the benghazi investigation leading the agency's efforts on that from day one, from the very dpinidpi beginning. he is going to be in the hot seat answering the questions from the congressional oversight committee on thursday. but i think in terms of worrying about whether general petraeus' admission and his resignation are going to affect the actual work of the cia, i wouldn't worry so much about that. people will be very focused on the answers he gives about what the cia knew and what it told the white house about benghazi. >> certainly. and this all happened with a tip, right? the fbi began investigating this after a tip. how has the fbi, would you say, been handling this? >> you know, they do what they do, which is try not to say too much officially about any possible investigations. now, i will tell you that cnn -- a source told cnn tha
some kind of tax increase for the wealthiest americans? >> well, there's a couple of el elements at play. one thing is that none of this will be determined public, right? if the president and john boehner were able to get that room and hammer out a deal and just sign it maybe they can get something done. each has a lot of factions to get done. john boehner is in an interesting position given some members of his republican caucus have lost their seats and they're looking at a lame duck. so some of the things you're hearing from capitol hill now are figure out a quick fix, a patch for the end of the year, and then really sit down at the table and try to negotiate on those numbers. that $250,000 number, that's exactly the point. that could definitely slide. and that's an area where you think the white house is probably a little bit more willing to negotiate. >> what do you think ultimately this is going to come down to, perry? is it going to be who's going to blink first? >> yes. it will come down to who's going to blink first. i don't think the president is going to blink on his in
because obamas was re-ele re-elected to a second term? >> is he blaming president obama for that. the coal industry has been struggling for a while. it's an industry under a lot of pressure. now this ceo is blaming president obama because of increased regulation, which he says is the cause for sort of the troubles that the coal industry is going through. now what the ceo does say is that he has decided that these layoffs are necessary to prep for a potential slowdown in production over the next four years. and wall street, it had the same idea last week. we saw coal stocks sell off right after election day. now coal production hit a historical high in 2008. it tumbled a year later but stail stabilized. the reality is that it's kind of hard to blame obama for everything. utility companies have been ditching coal for natural gas, which is cheaper and cleaner and new rules go into effect in 2015 that will make coal production and coal-fired power plants even more expensive to run. those rules, by the way, carol, stem from the clean air act signed into law by richard nixon. carol? >> you don't
